On October 16, the Spanish newspaper Metro Libre published \u00abThe lack of skilled workers in Panama is forcing chains to seek foreign personnel.\u00bb<\/p>\n
It is for this reason that the government of the Republic of Panama, aware of this historical and economic reality- by the Executive Decrees No. 416 of June 13, 2012 and No. 809 of October 9, 2012 – has created a new subcategory within the immigration category within of permanent residents, which benefits citizens from countries that Panama has friendly professional, economic and investment with the country.<\/p>\n
Citizens that may choose this subcategory includes the following countries: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Germany, Republic of Argentina, Commonwealth of Australia, South Korea, Republic of Austria, Federal Republic of Brazil, Kingdom of Belgium, Canada, Kingdom of Spain, USA, Slovakia, Republic of France, the Republic of Finland, Netherlands, Republic of Ireland, State of Japan, Kingdom of Norway, Czech Republic, Swiss Confederation, Republic Singapore, Republic of Uruguay, Republic of Chile, Kingdom of Sweden, Poland, Hungary, Greece, Portuguese Republic, Republic of Croatia, Republic of Estonia, Lithuania, Republic of Cyprus, Republic of Malta, Republic of Serbia, Republic of Montenegro, State of Israel, Kingdom of Denmark, South Africa, New Zealand, Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Andorra, Serene Republic of Marino, and Republic of Taiwan.<\/p>\n
Most importantly, the application is also extended to dependents, defined as spouse, children under 18, disabled family members, and dependent parents. With regards to children over 18 years, they may be requested as dependents up to age 25, provided they study regularly and check the economic dependence category. Even allowed as dependent children, are those who are under guardianship and foster care of the applicant.<\/p>\n
The people who are granted this immigration subcategory, can work in the country, provided they obtain a work permit authorization from the Labor Authority.<\/p>\n
The work permit will be authorized indefinitive.<\/p>\n
