As a law firm and legal services provider, we collect personal data as part of our professional activities and for the purposes of serving our clients. We are a multijurisdictional and multiservice organization assisting clients on a global scale.

We may collect your information and data: a) as part of the business intake procedures; b) to understand, access and assist you with your ongoing legal needs, c) to ensure information is accurate and up-to-date, d) when you browse or use any of our online services; and d) when you provide a service as a vendor. We only collect your data through legal and consensual means for the purposes of providing legal services to our clients.

Ordinarily, you will have provided information and data in the course of our relationship. However, when needed, we may collect information on your good selves through third parties such as public registries and information service providers.

WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

Personal information is any information that identifies you.  At MM, we may collect information such as:

  • Basic personal information and data required to comply with our Know Your Client Policy and Due Diligence requirements such as name, date of birth, residential address, passport or ID number, copy of a utility bill, country of fiscal residence, among others etc.
  • Technical information such as your IP address.
  • Billing information and/or contact details (office address, job title, business phone number, email address, fax number or other related business contact information)
  • Public information provided from compliance and public databases.

USE OF YOUR INFORMATION

We use your personal information to provide legal advice and services to you and for administration purposes such as client billing. In essence, we will only use your personal data in connection with our ordinary professional activities.

We also use your information to comply with our obligations in the contract(s) or agreement (s) entered with you to provide our services, for carrying out conflict checks and anti-money laundering searches, to comply with our legal obligations in the jurisdictions we operate and, to defend our legal rights and comply with court and/or administrative orders, should it be necessary.

It is important that you know we do not disclose or sell your personal information or business contact information to any third party to enable them to market their products and services. 

WHO DO WE SHARE AND HOW MAY WE RELEASE INFORMATION TO?

In the course of our business relationship, with your consent, we may provide information to:

  • To a third party we contract to provide administrative services to the law firm (like a computer back-up services or file storage) only if that third party agrees to comply with our privacy policy and privacy laws.

MM is an international law firm and legal services provider with office around the world. Irrespective of how we obtained your data we may need this information to be shared within our network of offices. Our policy requires all offices to, at all times, ensure the same level of data protection required by our headquarters. When we do share this your data within our staff and offices we will do this taking the appropriate measure and safeguards to ensure its protection.

Always bear in mind that we will and must provide your basic information and data to governmental authorities when said information is requested, and must be turned over, by law.
