Extension of the deadline to submit extensions for expired Residence Permits

The National Migration Authority, through Resolution No. 1191 of January 16th, 2025, published in the Official Gazette on Tuesday, January 21st, 2025, extends the deadline to submit expired Residence Permits.

  • This deadline applies to applications for extensions of Temporary Residence Permits, Provisional Residence Permits, Permanent Residence Permits, and Domestic Worker Visas.

  • This resolution is temporary, as it will be in effect until December 31st, 2025.
    After this date, the provisions of Resolution No. 15,703 of August 24th, 2012, will apply, which grants a six (6) month period to submit extension or stay applications.

 

Application of the Traveler’s Affidavit Declaration

The National Customs Authority, through Resolution No. 013 of January 8th, 2025, published in the Official Gazette on Tuesday, January 21st, 2025, established the application of the Traveler’s Affidavit Declaration as follows:

  • Any traveler entering or leaving Panama who has money, securities, negotiable documents, or goods in their luggage exceeding ten thousand dollars (US$10,000), must complete the Traveler’s Affidavit Declaration form, either in physical or electronic format.

  • In the case of a family group, the Traveler’s Affidavit Declaration may be completed by the head of the family, who will be responsible for any customs, tax, or criminal consequences related to that act, concerning all information regarding the money, securities, negotiable documents, and goods carried by the group or in their luggage that exceed an amount equal to or greater than ten thousand dollars (US$10,000).

  • This resolution will come into effect two (2) months from its publication in the Official Gazette, that is, on March 21st, 2025.
