Panama, January 22. 2024. The Chambers Diversity & Inclusion team has published the third annual D&I Latin America Report, looking closely at Latin America’s most innovative initiatives and best practices in 2023.
The key trends that emerged were focused on renewed understandings of gender diversity, raising awareness and supporting access to justice, and innovative efforts to create inclusive cultures at firms.
Ten organizations were highlighted, including Morgan & Morgan’s case study’ Prevention of gender violence and other forms of discrimination in the workplace’, a project resulting from Law 7 of 2018, which adopts measures to prevent, prohibit, and punish discriminatory acts and other provisions. This Law generates direct obligations for private companies, public institutions, NGOs, and schools.
Morgan & Morgan designed a protocol in alliance with the Ministry of Labor of Panama and SUMARSE. Since its creation, the firm has been assisting and training companies and NGOs to become aware of the problem, create internal policies to comply with the legislation, and start relevant conversations in their workspaces.
