Menalco Jose Solis is an international associate at Morgan & Morgan and a member of the firm’s Arbitration & ADR and Litigation & Dispute Resolution practices, focusing on complex litigations and domestic and international arbitrations.
Menalco has strong experience in international commercial arbitration and investment cases. He advises companies on complex disputes, spanning, for instance, construction and engineering, long-term energy agreements, and public concessions, and involving various sectors and industries.
Menalco has been involved in international arbitrations under the institutional rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), American Arbitration Association (AAA), International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), and International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), as well as under the arbitration rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) in ad-hoc proceedings and cases administered by the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA). He has also acted as counsel in disputes arising out of projects in Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia, North America, and South America.
Before joining Morgan & Morgan, Menalco worked in various international arbitration teams in Paris and Washington, D.C. And prior to that he was assistant legal counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, assisting arbitral tribunals in investment disputes or commercial disputes involving a state entity.
Actively engaged in the development of international arbitration law and practice, he has contributed with publications in journals such as Arbitration International and American Review of International Arbitration. He also currently serves as a senior editor of ITA in Review, the journal of the Institute of Transnational Arbitration.
