Executive Decree No. 7 of April 17th, 2026, creates a new subcategory within the Temporary Resident category, aimed at foreign nationals participating as consultants and healthcare professionals.
- Eligibility:
Foreign nationals may apply if they are duly accredited by means of a resolution issued by the Directorate General of Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Panama, to carry out training activities within the healthcare sector.
- Conditions of the Residence Permit:
- The activities to be carried out must be non-profit in nature and previously approved by the Ministry of Health.
- This subcategory does not allow the inclusion of dependents.
- Requirements:The applicant must comply with the general requirements established under the applicable immigration regulations, except for the payment of the repatriation deposit (B/.850.00), and must submit the following:
- Three (3) passport-size photographs.
- A simple copy of the resolution issued by the Directorate General of Public Health of the Ministry of Health.
- Written approval issued by the Director of the hospital or healthcare facility where the activity will take place, as well as by the Director of the corresponding Regional Health Office.
- Effective Date:This Executive Decree became effective upon its publication in the Official Gazette; that is, on April 17th, 2026.
